Since the release of Chris Rock's documentary film "Good Hair" there has been a lot of discussion around how Asians dominate the African American Hair industry. The majority of beauty supply stores are Korean owned and many women feel they have no choice but to patronize these establishments. We often hear comments like "There aren't any black-owned stores in my community" or "I don't know where to go". Fortunately, websites such as http://www.bobsaone.org/ provide a listing by state of Black Owned Beauty Supply stores.
Personally in Georgia we have visited All-N-One Beauty Supply, Atlanta Beauty Depot, and Revolutionz Beauty Supply and have been pleased with both the customer service and the product selection. These stores may also carry products from black owned companies which is an added bonus, so the next time you're searching for great hair extensions or that must-have conditioner, try a Black-Owned Beauty Supply Store. You may just discover your new favorite store!

Just Because It Says "Remy" Doesn't Mean It Really Is...
How many times have you looked at a pack of hair in the store and commented on how pretty, shiny, and wonderful it was only to find that once you've installed it, it gets frizzy throughout the day and you can barely run your fingers through it. When you are finally able to comb it, it begins to shed uncontrollably as you work out the tangles and most of the hair ends up on the floor. If this has happened to you, you may have been a victim of what we like to call the "Silicone Coating Scandal".
Often times hair manufacturers will take a lesser grade of hair and put a silicone coating on it to make it look shiny and attractive. As you wear the hair or even wash it this silicone coating wears off revealing the true less desirable qualities of the hair. In order to entice you, this hair will be littered with phrases such as "Tangle Free" and sometimes even "Remy". Well as the saying goes, "You get what you pay for" and sometimes it's worth investing the money in a product that will go the distance rather than spending money repeatedly for a cheaper product. At the end of the day you have to ask yourself what makes more sense: Buying a $20 pack of hair every week, or buying a $120 pack of hair that can last for months or even more?
